What do you like about being on the merchant services support team?

I love talking to people, problem solving, and working with numbers, and love how my day-to-day typically includes all of these. We get a ton of different questions from merchants each day, but my favorite is when someone calls and wants me to explain their deposits and break down the prices. I genuinely get so excited to walk them through how it shows up in their bank account, like why certain things get combined, and help them get a better understanding of it all.

Share a funny or unexpected moment at work.

One funny memory I have is when I was helping a merchant over the phone and he stopped me mid-conversation to ask if I was a real person, because he’d “never talked to someone so happy on the phone before.” He was genuinely so surprised and couldn’t believe I wasn’t AI or something! I’m definitely known for being happy and positive, but I guess I must’ve been in an extra good mood that day!

What business or industry do you like working with most?

I was a server for over 10 years before I joined WAS, so I love anything in the food industry – especially when I’m doing an activation and helping someone get set up. I know food POS’s like the back of my hand – so I know what they’ll need and what they will want to know, and I can really drive the conversations and show them the features they’ll find most useful like inputting the products.

What do you think makes Woodforest Acceptance Solutions a preferred choice for business owners?

What sets WAS apart from other processors is our direct connection with Visa and Verifone, and our close-knit support team. While most companies of this nature work from home or overseas, we work together in one office, which results in better communication, a deeper understanding of our merchants’ complex needs, and quicker response times.

What advice would you give someone joining your team?

Be patient with yourself and be comfortable with the uncomfortable, like not knowing and not fully understanding at first. You will work through it and learn along the way! And, if you’re as lucky as me, you’ll have an amazing, supportive, and sweet team there to guide you.

Favorite way to unwind after work?

I am always singing and love to do karaoke (often in my car on the way home)! My go-to songs are Teenage Dirtbag, Me and Bobby McGee, and anything by Lady Gaga.
